Outdoor Attractions
Letchworth Country and nature seem to go hand-in-hand. In addition to Letchworth Park’s spectacular beauty, there are several other areas of interest. The Beaver Meadow Nature Center is a 324-acre nature center in North Java which is free (except for special programs) and open all year. In addition to self-guided tours, there are a number of programs offered during the year.
Also in the area are two major open areas managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The Carlton Hill Multiple Use Area is over 2,500 acres located a few miles north of Warsaw, and the Rattlesnake Hill Wildlife Management Area is a 5,000-acre area near Nunda.
Fishing streams in the area include Clear Creek, East Koy Creek, Wiscoy Creek, Oatka Creek and the Genesee River. Silver Lake and Conesus Lake are also popular.
